I've been some what involved in the campaign for Yes on Proposition 8 for the past couple of months. It's a huge issue and it's worth standing up for. I wouldn't say I'm a real political person but I do feel Proposition 8 is so important and so critical to our future. I just want to have my say in how I feel about it. I can do that on my blog! So, here I go out of my comfort zone, again...

It kind of feels like someone next to me has stood up to say what they "want" and as they did, they stepped on my toes. Normally I would just pull away or say oops you stepped on my toes or just wait for them to shift their weight and pull my foot out but this time it hurts and I really must stand up next to them and say, "hey, you're stepping on my toes and I don't like it!"

My very first problem with this whole issue is that we've already said/voted what the people of California want. We voted (61% of us did) in 2000. We voted that marriage is between a man and a woman. What gives 4 liberal judges the right to just throw out what we voted on? That in itself is reason enough to get my "yes" vote. Who do they think they are?

I believe in God with all my heart. I believe He has a plan for each of us. I believe each of us is a child of God and as such has divine qualities that our Heavenly Father has given us. As males and females, we each have qualities that compliment each other. When we work together and build families, the Lord blesses us. I believe that marriage is ordained of God and that the family is central to God's plan for us. This is what I believe. This is my testimony.

I know that although I don't agree with homosexual life styles, they do exist. I don't live in that much of a bubble. That's fine. I don't hate any group of people. I really do love people. I love how different people are. I've always heard a homosexual life style referred to as an alternative life style. We're all free to choose what kind of life we want to live.

The dictionary defines alternative as having a choice between two things. When you have a choice, you can't have the same thing. You make your choice, you go your way. I'm not forcing my beliefs on any group of people, why should I be forced by another group of people? I don't even care if same sex couples want to have a union. I do care if they want to call it "marriage" because I do care if "marriage" is being redefined. I'm tired of ads saying that the "yes on 8" campaign are shameful. I'm tired of us being yelled at and flipped off. I've found through what I would consider peaceful demonstrations that those who don't agree with me are very angry and have basically two vulgar words in their vocabulary and "the bird". I'm tired of our signs being removed from all over the place. I'm tired of the intolerant ways the "no on 8" campaign continues to demonstrate. I'm tired of the "no on 8" campaign ads saying this has nothing to do with what our children will learn in school. Who are they kidding? It's already happening and our school's do teach marriage. Look it up in the California Education Code 51933. I'm also tired of being referred to as a bigot. Oh, and one more thing, I'm tired of disrespectful teenagers flipping me the bird and yelling obscenities because of what I believe.

I am entitled to my opinion as much as anyone else is. There are some great websites out there that go into more detail about what would happen if prop 8 fails. Like I said, I'm not really a political person and I certainly don't know how to talk the political lingo but these websites do!:

Yes on Prop 8 does not strip away any current rights that same sex couples have. It will take away current rights of parents. The schools do not need to notify parents of same sex curriculum which would allow them to opt out of those discussions. They didn't notify parents in Massachusetts, why would they notify us? Yes, I know it's another state but when new things are happening, you have to look to the examples that already exist for information. Yes, there are some things that I want to shield my children from.

I believe this is a moral issue and one that should be taught in the home. I never had same sex lessons in school and I'm fine with that. I want the same for my children. A yes on prop 8 vote isn't about hating a group of people. It's about protecting what is sacred and dear to me. My "Yes on Prop 8" vote is for our future.

I've not been as politically involved this election as I have in the past, aside from the Yes on Prop 8 campaign. This is due mainly to the fact that I'm not "super" excited about the Republican candidate, John McCain. Don't get me wrong, I'm a die hard Republican, and for good reason. Being a Mormon and being a cop, there is nothing good offered by the liberal left Democrats. This is the first of a few "rantings" I plan on posting, all because I believe I have some close friends and family members who are being "lead astray". I don't mean to offend anyone, but know this is too important to let go.

TV Generation

There is no doubt this is the MTV Generation. What I mean by that is people have forgotten how to think for themselves. They believe whatever the TV tells them to believe. TV is not the place to obtain correct unbiased direction. There are very few, maybe no, unbiased programs on TV. Most are liberal in their method and manner of providing what they call the news. And yet we take it as the gospel, even when it goes against everything we hold dear. Because it's on TV doesn't make it true. I've spent 15 years hating the media here in LA. For them it's all about making money. How hard is that to understand. They don't care about telling you the truth, as long as you watch. Tell lies about the LAPD because that brings in viewers. They know they can control this election, and they're proving it.

John McCain

I mentioned I was not excited about John McCain. That doesn't mean I don't like him, or wont vote for him. John McCain has my vote, I just feel there were others who shared more of my views. Although McCain doesn't share all these views, he's acceptable. What's not acceptable is Barack Obama. I've yet to find one issue he stands for that I agree with. Oh, he can talk. He's very charismatic. He's done a wonderful job of flattering America. The greatest deceiver of all time stole 1/3 of our brothers and sisters from Heaven too. Just because he said it, or the liberal media says it, doesn't make it so. Romney's out, so John McCain is the best bet for America now. Obama is the most liberal senetor in Washington. That's proven by his voting record. Since he began running for President his spoken views have changed. Why? Because a liberal can't get elected, but a moderate can.

What to do?

Do your own research. Don't beleive what the TV tells you to beleive. Know that this is important. The great Roman Empire fell because of corruption in their once great government. The Nephite Empire fell for the same reason. If anyone thinks that can't happen to us, you're in for a rude awakening.

So I got tired of the old music player on the left side of our blog. It's a pain to update the music and sometimes you don't wanna listen to my music. I did a bit of searching and found a really cool widget called Dizzler - music/video jukebox. You can search it for whatever music you wanna listen to. Check it out at the bottom of the page. I'm gonna mess with it later to see if it works in the sidebar. Oh, if you don't wanna listen to music you gotta click the stop button...I hate it when they start automatically. (I've removed it while I try to fix this problem)

The girls and I have become addicted to a game called Bubbles. You shoot at like colored bubbles and they disappear. The goal is to eliminate all the bubbles. Check it out at the bottom of the page too.

Today was my first official Sunday as Primary president of our ward. Wow. I'm really excited. I was in Primary just a couple of years ago as a counselor. I have a wonderful presidency: Allison Bayles, Liz Fusano, Mayreen Burk and Marla Anderson. Each of them have something special to bring to Primary. I love each of them already and am thrilled to be working them and getting to know them better. We had fun today. Primary is a wonderful place to be. For those not familiar with Primary, it is the childrens organization in our church. It is for all the kids ages 18 months up to 11. We have about 160 kids on our rolls and they pretty much all come. We meet for 2 hours and the kids are split up in age groups. They are in class for one hour and then Sharing Time (where we sing, have a little lesson and give talks and welcomes, birthdays, etc.) Today in sharing time we learned about serving others. We learned from Matthew 25:40 that when we serve others, we are really serving our Heavenly Father. We learned that when we serve, we have a good feeling inside that is the Holy Ghost confirming that what we are doing is a good thing.
I'm hoping to update the "Primary Corner" each Sunday. Maybe one of these days, I'll learn how to add pictures and links like all my Blog Savvy friends. Wouldn't that be fun!

Emalee came with us to dinner at the party and then went to the Homecoming Dance. My pretty big girls!

Last night we had a Halloween party at church with our ward. Yes, it is early for Halloween. But guess what, my kids costumes are all done now and I can sit back. That's the nice part.

Maryn was a purple fairy. Natey was the obvious. Chaysie was a fairy too. She had wings but not in this picture. It's fun to dress up for Halloween. Natey really wanted me to be "MJ Watson", (Spidey's favorite gal) but I don't have red hair anymore!

Emalee is the Bella Donna's Womens Choir at Valencia H.S. They are amazing! Their fall performance was Motown. Her first number
she sang in was a Queen of Soul medley.



Here she is with Lauren and Jenn at intermission. Then her group sang Amazing Grace. It is really a wonderful show. Her next performance is a Christmas dessert and choir in December. It will show for 3 nights. If you want tickets, get them quick. They added the third night because all of their performances always sell out! Mrs. Enns is the director and she is fantastic and really fun with the kids!

Natey was just playing in the back with Maryn and then his best bud Brandon Michael came over to play one day. Has anyone ever read "You Are Special" by Max Lucado. The dotty face reminds me of that book! It's a great book.

We actually found out it's a Jerusalem Cricket or Potatoe Bug. Gross. I found this on the back patio last Saturday. All I want to know is I'm not in Jerusalem and I'm not growing potatoes so what was it doing in my backyard. It was huge. It was about 2 inches long. Maybe longer! Who knows. It's gone now. We think a bird may have found it for a feast. Feast away. I hate yucky bugs, which is all bugs!

Natey loved to play in the sand and Nate looks like he needs some help. Hmmm I didn't let him walk around too long looking like that!


Taylor Liza and Maryn were too cute as bathing beauties on the boat. Look at my big girls hugging. I love to see them huggin!

Nate and I got jostled around on the tube. It was REALLY fun.
